No‘eau Center for Writing, Math and Academic Success

The No‘eau Center for Writing, Math and Academic Success provides academic support through tutoring and workshops that help students succeed at UH West O‘ahu. The center’s programs focus on life-long learning and the belief that all students are able to develop critical thinking and quantitative reasoning skills as they transition into the workforce. In addition to the classroom experience at the University, students benefit from individualized attention, working with small study groups and participating in innovative activities that promote learning and literacy.

The No‘eau Center for Writing, Math and Academic Success offers informed, accessible tutoring in writing, statistics, and math. Students can meet with a tutor face-to-face or online. Academic workshops refresh skills in writing and math, as well as offer strategies to help students learn more effectively.

Workshop topics include:
  • Time management
  • Note-taking, reading, and test-taking
  • Resume writing
  • Avoiding Plagiarism
The Center offers handouts and online sources about citation styles and writing within specific disciplines, as well as faculty and staff resources to assist with Writing Intensive classes including classroom visits, in-class workshops, and consultations regarding writing assignments and evaluation.
